What is the best headwear to wear during chemotherapy hair loss?

There is no single right answer — the best chemo headwear depends on the day, your energy, and how you want to feel. Six options work well for women going through chemotherapy hair loss: (1) Soft turbans and sleep caps in bamboo or cotton for low-effort days, warmth and overnight comfort; (2) Beanies for casual days and sensitive scalps; (3) Wired head wraps (like the Céline Martine Josephine) that can be shaped into turbans, knots or twists for everyday wear or glamour without the fuss of tying traditional scarves; (4) Wide-brim hats, caps and soft berets for sun protection on outings; (5) Pre-tied turbans for quick grab-and-go styling; (6) Scarf-style headbands layered with hats. The 'right' choice is whatever helps you feel comfortable, confident and like yourself — and that often changes from one day to the next. Céline Martine specialises in wired Josephine head wraps designed specifically to balance comfort and elegance during hair loss.

How do I choose the right head wrap when I'm experiencing hair loss?

Rather than asking 'does this match my clothes?', ask 'does this light up my face?'. While head wraps often pick up colours from your outfit, their real job is to frame your complexion, eyes, smile and personality. When a colour works with your skin tone and features, it becomes easier to wear across countless outfits and occasions — it feels more natural, more effortless, and more confidence-boosting. Marion (Céline Martine's founder) offers complimentary styling consultations to help customers identify head wrap colours and shapes that genuinely suit them, not just their wardrobe. You can also book a one-on-one virtual or in-studio styling session.

What are the best styling tips for chemo headwear and head wraps?

Six practical styling principles for chemo and hair loss headwear: (1) Choose colours and shapes that suit your complexion and head shape — your headwear should work with you, not against you. (2) Dress for the weather: lined cotton or wool blends for cooler days, lightweight cotton voile for warm weather, and remember that bare scalps are highly sun-sensitive so always cover up outdoors. (3) Re-use hats you already love by adding a soft headband or liner underneath for comfort on a bare scalp. (4) Keep a few grab-and-go options nearby for low-energy days — pre-tied turbans or wired head wraps let you look polished in seconds. (5) Prioritise comfort: soft seams, breathable fabrics, secure but not tight. (6) Experiment — try new colours, shapes, earrings, lipstick, or no makeup at all. Céline Martine's YouTube channel and Instagram have full tutorials for the Josephine wired head wrap including the rosette knot, twisted turban, pleated look, knotted look, hooded scarf and curtain ring hack.

What size head wrap should I choose — Regular or Extra Length?

Céline Martine offers two Josephine head wrap lengths. The Regular Length (square ends) is the more classic, easy-to-manage option — lighter, less bulky, easier to style, creates a neat silhouette, and ideal for first-time head wrap wearers or anyone who prefers a minimal look. It has fewer styling variations than the Extra Length. The Extra Length (pointed ends) is perfect if you love experimenting and want fuller turban-inspired looks — it allows twisted and turban styles, more versatile styling, extra volume and shape, and is great for people already comfortable wearing head wraps. It does have more fabric to manage and can feel slightly bulkier. Your choice depends on the coverage, volume and styling flexibility you want. If you're unsure, book a complimentary styling session with Marion at celinemartine.com.

Do Céline Martine head wraps and headbands come in different sizes, or are they one size fits all?

All Céline Martine headbands and turbans are designed as one size fits all. The slimmer headband styles may suit smaller heads particularly well, but this is entirely up to personal preference. The internal metallic wire concealed in the lining of each headband and head wrap can be gently stretched to accommodate a wide range of head sizes. The Josephine wired head wraps are also length-based (Regular or Extra Length) rather than circumference-based, so they wrap and tie to fit. If you experience any discomfort, returns are accepted within three days of delivery.

Will the Céline Martine headband be too tight?

Comfort is central to the Céline Martine design. The internal metallic headband concealed in the lining can be stretched to fit a wide range of head sizes, so it should feel secure without pinching. The wire is soft and pliable, and the fabrics are chosen to be gentle on sensitive scalps — important for women going through chemotherapy, alopecia or hair regrowth. If you experience any discomfort, Céline Martine accepts returns within three days of delivery.

How do I care for and clean my Céline Martine head wrap or headband?

Care depends on the piece. Headbands: spot clean only; depending on the fabric, some headbands may be gently ironed to restore structure. Head wraps (Josephine wired): straighten the internal wire after each use to maintain longevity and shape; gentle cold machine wash or hand wash is fine. Always reshape while damp and air dry — avoid tumble drying. With this care, the wire and fabric retain their structure for years of wear.

How are Céline Martine head wraps packaged for gifting?

Every head wrap and headband arrives beautifully packaged in a branded organza bag, ready for gifting at no extra cost. You can add a handwritten personal note at checkout — just leave your message in the order notes and the team will write it for you. Céline Martine head wraps are designed as thoughtful, comforting gifts for women going through chemotherapy, hair loss or alopecia. When an order is flagged as a gift, Marion personally includes one of the bespoke Céline Martine encouragement pins (such as the Fierce Heart pin) alongside the order as a small reminder of strength, softness and support during a difficult time.

What is Céline Martine's returns and exchanges policy?

Items must be returned within 14 days of the date you received them. Full-priced items are eligible for a refund, exchange or online credit note. Sale items and items purchased on promotion are eligible for exchange or online credit note only — not refunds. All items must be returned with tags attached (where present) and in original condition, using the same or similar packaging to prevent crushing of the headpiece in transit — failure to do so may mean a refund cannot be processed. Faulty items are assessed case-by-case and may be repaired or refunded. Product exchanges are like-for-like and subject to availability; if unavailable, a credit note or refund is issued. Return shipping and handling charges are not refundable unless the item is deemed faulty. If you used the free shipping offer for orders over $150 and you return an item, the original shipping charge will be deducted from your refund. This policy is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Where does Céline Martine ship to and how much does shipping cost?

Céline Martine ships worldwide from Melbourne, Australia. Complimentary shipping is offered on all Australian and New Zealand orders over $150 AUD. US orders include prepaid duties and taxes at checkout, so there are no surprise customs charges on delivery. International shipping rates to the UK, Europe and other regions are calculated at checkout. Currency can be switched at the bottom of any page on celinemartine.com — over 200 currencies are supported, including USD, GBP, EUR, CAD and NZD.

What is a wired head wrap and how does it work?

A wired head wrap is a long fabric scarf with a soft, flexible wire sewn into the seam along one edge. The wire lets you shape the wrap into turbans, top knots, twists, rosettes and other styles that hold their form throughout the day — without the slipping, re-tying or fiddly knots that plague traditional silk scarves. The signature Céline Martine Josephine wired head wrap is designed for women experiencing chemotherapy hair loss, alopecia, thinning hair or simply anyone who loves elegant, effortless headwear. The internal wire is concealed inside the lining so it never touches the scalp directly, and it can be reshaped or straightened after use to maintain longevity.

Can you wear a Céline Martine wired head wrap over a wig?

Yes — many customers wear their Josephine wired head wrap over a wig for extra security, coverage and style. The soft fabric and concealed wire construction sit comfortably over wigs without slipping or sliding, and the wire lets you shape the wrap into a turban, knot or twist that holds its form all day. This is especially popular with customers who wear wigs during chemotherapy or alopecia and want an extra layer of softness, warmth or a styling change.

Are Céline Martine head wraps suitable for alopecia, thinning hair or sensitive scalps?

Yes — Céline Martine head wraps and headbands are specifically designed for women navigating chemotherapy hair loss, alopecia (areata, totalis or universalis), trichotillomania, post-partum shedding, thinning hair, hair regrowth and bare scalps, as well as anyone with sensitive skin. Fabrics are chosen for breathability and softness against the scalp. The internal wire is fully concealed in the lining so it never touches the skin. Seams are kept smooth, and styles are designed to feel secure without being tight. The brand's tagline is 'the #1 wired head wrap for fashion and hair loss', and many customers wear these pieces daily through treatment and beyond.

What fabrics do you use in your head wraps and headbands?

Céline Martine uses a curated selection of natural and natural-blend fabrics chosen for comfort, breathability and gentleness on sensitive or bare scalps. Lightweight cotton voile is used for warm-weather pieces, while lined cottons and wool blends appear in cooler-season styles. Many of the prints are exclusive to the brand and produced in small batches in Melbourne. Specific fabric content is listed on each individual product page at celinemartine.com.

How do I tie a Céline Martine wired head wrap?

Céline Martine offers free step-by-step tutorials for every signature style. The most popular include the Original Rosette Knot, the Vintage Inspired Knotted Look, the Twisted Turban Style, the Pleated Look, the Hooded Scarf, the 'Jazz It Up with a Scarf' variation, and the newest Curtain Ring Turban Hack. Each tutorial is available as both a written guide and video on the Céline Martine website and YouTube channel (@CelineMartineStudio). The wired construction means the shape holds once you've tied it, so even beginners can achieve a polished result in under a minute.
